Saw the commercial on TV, then watched the trailer. Doesn't give much away, kinda seems like your normal "what was that sound?" or "there's something here." scary movie.

Thoughts?

Looks like it has a lot of those cheap 'surprise you outta your socks' moments but I hope it has some truly scary eerie bits as well.

Yeah, doesn't look good just like all the other new horror movies.

The best movie to ever be made with the whole haunted house theme is the original version of 'The Haunting'. Nothing beats that even if its way old. Watch that instead if you haven't seen it. That was basically the only horror flic that really scared me and it had zero special effects.

this movie was so fuckin horrible i am going out my way to spread the news everywhere. typical 'ooh, hoof footprints in the hallway. i better go into this dark closet to check it out' white couple. i counted around 15 or 20 nights living with demonic howls, thumps, bite marks, possessions, activated electronics, unexplained broken objects, and a woman bein snatched outta bed in the middle of the night... yet NOBODY even decided to attempt to leave before it was too late... and all the scares were cheap shocks. ALL OF THEM!!! i shit u not, me and my friend actually sat in our seats after the movie expecting there to be mroe shit goin on... it was beyond fucked up and irritating. i felt violated and robbed of my dignity, integrity and time

^exactly the kind of unintelligent trash that passes as 'scary' nowadays. Thanks for the heads up Dirte, I like to make up my own mind when it comes to movies but I don't wanna go near this kind of shit so I'll take your word for it.

i kno im a very critical person and i probably sound like i shit on everything within asscheek reach but i feel confident that most people on this board dont have a sissy's standard in horror movies. u'll need alot more than a howl, a thump and flickering lights to scare u guys or even keep your interest for more than an hour. best part of the movie was the fact that the girlfriend had some huge knockers but there wasnt a single nude scene to be had

i didn't watch it, and the trailers dont give anything away other than an audience screaming. if you pay me enough, i could scream like a 12 year old (ask dirte.)

so meh to that movie. its probably crap. i cant take dirte's word for it cuz he's crazy when it comes to this genre, but i can tell it's probably cheap thrills like he mentioned.

hey, jus because i brought my portable dvd player to the cemetary and watched night of the living dead on halloween night with a blond virgin and a bottle of alcohol does not mean my high standards of scary material is unattainable... in china

@Dirte, was the whole movie shot in that "home video" style? And was there an actual ghost that appears or does it rely solely on that suspense factor where it's always off-screen but makes noises?

I don't think it was crap. I actually liked it. But I wouldn't say it's as scary as folks make it out to be. If anything, it was just amusing. I didn't really get scared at all. But if you're into that paranormal shit, I'd say check it out. It's very eerie and creepy, that's for sure. It's not like you're watching a scary movie, but more of a documentary of being in a haunted house. To enjoy it more, I guess you'd just have to put yourself in their shoes. It's not meant to be one of those gory, scare-tactic movies. It's more along the lines of just watching how a couple deals with paranormal activity.

It was creepy as hell and it certainly had some weird moments, but it's definitely not the scary movie that everyone is making it out to be. It's sorta like Blair Witch (which I actually did not like AT ALL), it's just a documentation of eerie things going on in their environment. If you're looking for crazy violence/gore, shit flying at the camera out of nowhere and creepy music to intensify the mood, this movie isn't for you because it doesn't have any of that.

BTW, I watched the DVD screener that leaked, and I will say that ending was quite anti-climactic. I heard about the theatrical ending, but that one would've been lame to see. There's another alternative ending that I've read about; I really want to see that ending.
